Quote of the day:   Dad, thayrs a rily nys bb gun for 23 bucs,  Andrew's IM to his dad at the office reads.                                      He'd better be more adept at handling a bb gun than he is at spelling.

Low point of the day:  Having Dr. Post's x-ray confirm our suspicions that Diana's fourth finger is broken near the                                    tip.  She crushed it between two 5 lb. dumbbells and it immediately turned yellow and purple                                   and a bit cool to the touch.  Such a tiny appendage can cause so much pain when wounded.

High point of the day: Adding Cocoa, a beautiful part-Birman cat, to our small but growing pet population.  How                                      well she will cohabitate with Sassy, our sweet little Sheltie,  remains to be seen.  At first                                         introduction things were none-too-congenial on the part of the feline creature,  but if they
don't become fast friends it won't be Sassy's fault.

I am so sorry for your little Diana and her finger! What do they do for a broken tip anyway? I thought that you just did an injury not that long ago! And a bloodclot. You guys really need to cut out that dramatic stuff.

Andrew's IM to his Dad is just great! We enjoyed that one. Your kids never give you a dull moment, do they? I'm sorry, though, for the excitement Diana's finger caused you. That's not the kind of excitement you hope for.

For a broken tip there's not much to do except splint it and let it heal - straight, we hope! Dr. says you can do surgery, of course, but hers wasn't mangled that badly, thank God. It's just that the day after I posted, she pinched it in our front door at precisely the spot it had been broken not 24 hrs. before. The first splint had come off because she was hot & sweaty, so not much protection there, just a bit of wrap. There was great weeping and wailing followed by another trip to the Dr.

And am I ever ready to cut out all this emergency stuff!
